Former Newcastle United and England striker Alan Shearer believes Manchester United's troubles will get worse before their situation improves.
United suffered a fifth defeat in their last six Premier League home matches on Sunday afternoon, losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace. The Londoners claimed all three points via a second half brace from striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.
His double condemned United to a fifth defeat in their last eight league matches, leaving them 13th in the table. They have won just 14 points from a possible 39 since Ruben Amorim's first game in charge.

United have offered hints of what they might be capable of under Amorim, particularly away from home against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, but their home form is a grave concern. And in the opinion of Shearer, the situation could get even worse.
"Palace were worthy of their win and I can still see it getting worse at Old Trafford before it gets better," Shearer told " target="_blank" class="link"> The Rest Is Football podcast. "They're just not good enough.
"They're miles away from being competitive, particularly in the way (Amorim) wants to play."
United's only hope of salvaging something from this season is by succeeding in the FA Cup and the Europa League. United face Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday night and progressed to the last-16 of the Europa League last week.
However, Shearer is adamant there is no quick fix to United's ongoing problems, highlighting Amorim's need for time to make gradual changes.
He added: "Because the problems in the club are so deep-rooted, it's not going to be a quick fix and he has to be given this transfer window, the rest of the season and then the window in the summer to get his team."
